Chop Jing Chew Since 1946 Han King Juan, founder of Chop Jing Chew. He was born in 1922. At the age of 17, Han left his birthplace from China, Hainan Province, in search of opportunities.
Together with his cousins, they set sail to Brunei in 1940 after discovering the place was a land of abundant opportunities. Han was only 18 years old when he supported his cousins to start-up a small coffee shop.
Following the Japanese occupation, Han and his cousins decided to open another shop in 1946. They named it Chop Jing Chew. Two years later, his cousins decided to leave Brunei. But Han stayed and continued to run the coffee shop and became the sole owner of Chop Jing Chiew.
He became a Brunei citizen in 1964. Ten years later, Han who was known as the forefather of the famous “Roti Kuning” (yellow-coloured bread)
