We are proud to have restored the Gruvelagere in Sverdrupbyen and have converted the venue into a unique and new function room and restaurant. The venue has a long history and is themed with a focus on early coal extraction and mining on Svalbard. The kitchen bears the stamp of rustic elegance, and real, honest and arctic food is our signature. We know that many of our guests are visitors and have had a busy day with many experiences.
Whether you are in Svalbard as a tourist, on a business trip or perhaps visiting friends, you always have a need to experience as much as possible, and usually too little time to cover everything Svalbard has to offer. Our wish is to round off your day with a rare dining experience, in a calm, relaxed atmosphere and at the same time show you a bit of Longyearbyen's proud history as a mining town.
Just below the Longyear tree, you are sheltered from the outside world and find yourself out in Svalbard's nature, and we emphasize that everyone with a fast-paced and hectic day behind them should leave here full and satisfied, either to continue the evening at the local pub Karlsberger Pub, or himself to be rested for new adventures the next day.
